It all started in 1991 in Otrobanda as a small gallery and gift shop. Then in 1996 with the move to De Rouvilleweg the focus shifted more and more to local art.
Today Gallery Alma Blou in Landhuis Habaai is the leading gallery on Curaçao, featuring Caribbean art.
The mansion has an ideal layout: A large main gallery, the heart, is flanked by a front and a back gallery. The building is situated in a way that makes daylight filter through it beautifully, enhancing the artworks' beauty.
Collections of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry and dolls are exhibited in different spaces in such a way that their quality stands out even more.
Themes and materials vary widely, but all art has a Caribbean character and Curaçaoan flair. Artists are inspired by the colors, the architecture, the people, the under water life, the wind, mythology, the sea or the landscape. In short by all Curaçao with its diversity has to offer and triggers the artist's imagination.
Many sculptures are carved in stone, Curaçao marble or crystal, but thanks to the local bronze foundry our artists make beautiful bronze sculptures as well.
A special section is dedicated to real Curaçao imagery, such as panoramas of Punda and Otrobanda, maps of the island and imprints of old city scenes.
